Top 5 reasons why Xbox Series X is better than Playstation 5

Reasons why Xbox is better than playstation

According to Statista, the value of the console gaming market in India is projected to reach $291M by 2022. The industry giants might be looking to hit that number by 2021 itself now that they have launched the upgraded versions of their “cash cows”. When one thinks of a gaming console in India, they almost instantly think of Sony’s Playstation. As is evident from this Statcounter report where Playstation is shown to have more than 80% market share between October 2019-20. As both Sony and Microsoft are gearing up for, what will be, a long drawn war of consoles, we face a question ourselves – which one should we buy? To help you in making that decision, here are the top 5 reasons why Xbox Series X is better than Playstation 5.

  • Faster CPU: Both Sony’s and Microsoft’s next-gen systems are leaps and bounds ahead of their predecessors. Each product while looking similar on paper boasts of slight edges because of those minute differences. And a faster CPU is definitely one of them. PS5 comes with an 8-core 3.5 GHz AMD Zen 2 processor and Xbox Series X sports an 8-core 3.8 GHz AMD Zen 2 processor. Again, very similar you might think. But Xbox has a faster clocking speed. Clock speed is an integral part of a CPU as it determines how fast it can interpret and carry out instructions. A faster clock speed helps Xbox complete more tasks within the same amount of time. This has a direct impact on just how long a gamer has to wait before being able to play.
  • Storage: Both the consoles feature a Solid-state drive (SSD) which is an upgrade from last gen’s Hard disk drive (HDD). The SSDs prove to be much smaller in size and faster in performance reducing the overall load times. Playstation 5 features an 825 GB custom SSD which offers actual storage space of 667 GB. While Xbox Series X offers a 1 TB custom NVMe SSD which offers storage space worth 802 GB. The difference in storage space is equal to having one lesser game stored on your console, sometimes even two. Microsoft also doubles down on the storage front by provisioning for an option to expand storage even further. The Xbox users can opt for Seagate 1 TB Storage Expansion Card separately if they want extra storage.

  • Quick Resume: Xbox’s feature of Quick Resume has been termed as a game-changer, quite literally. The feature allows you to jump from one game to another and back to the original game in the same state you left it in. Entirely eliminating the need to load up the game again reducing the overall waiting time. And puts you right in the middle of the action in a matter of seconds.
  • xCloud: Both the brands offer a subscription-based service for their users that provides benefits like free games, multiplayer ability etc. Microsoft’s Game Pass and Sony’s Playstation Now. Each service has its own set of pros & cons and subscribers of either service will already see a ton of value in it. Microsoft recently launched a service that will definitely put Xbox ahead of PS in the top console race: xCloud. Project xCloud gaming platform (known as Xbox Cloud gaming) allows Game Pass subscribers to stream their games to their Android devices. The service launched on September 15, 2020, gives access to 100+ titles from the Game Pass library that can be played on their phones or tablets. The service was not available for iOS at launch.

  • Better Backward Compatibility: This is the main reason why Xbox Series X is better than Playstation 5. Sony has made it possible for its users to be able to play PS4 games on the PS5 console. A feature that is entirely new to Playstation loyalists. Gamers will be able to play their favourite PS4 game titles (both physical and digital copies) on PS5. Users can expect shorter loading time and better graphics from their old game on their new system. Microsoft, on the other hand, has been raking in the profit over this feature for a number of years already. PS is simply late to the party. And while PS allows backward compatibility to the previous gen, Microsoft allows it all the way to its first-gen systems. That means not only you can enjoy popular Xbox One titles on the next-gen, but you can also enjoy titles from Xbox 360 and the original Xbox too.
